Sonya & Varun // Indian Wedding // Concord Function Centre

One of the great things about having the opportunity to document peoples wedding days is that every wedding is just so different. You are always faced with a new set of challenges every single time. When it came to Sonya & Varuns wedding a few weeks back I was a little nervous when I woke up on the Saturday morning. I wasn’t nervous about taking photos, I wasn’t nervous about interacting with people, I was nervous about the “unknown”. Although every wedding is different the same traditions typical happen, and you can predict and plan for when they will take place. But this is not the case when it comes to an Indian wedding. They have so many different traditions and rituals which are usually based on the part of India the couple’s family originate from. If I had seen it all with my eyes before I wouldn’t be nervous at all, but this was my first ever Indian wedding, so I had no idea what to expect or when the important rituals would occur. To help reduce the “unknown” I spent quite a few hours Googling other Indian weddings and ask Sonya lots of questions just so I had an idea!!!!

The day in itself just flew by and I had so much fun being a part of it all! I really have to say thank you to Sonya and Varun as well as their families and friends for being so inviting and friendly. They made me feel like I was actually a part of their families! I’m really grateful for that and I’m sure this will not be my last Indian wedding!

omg… you really really rocked it! i was going to say my favorite shot is of the b&g laying the flowers around each other’s necks, earlier on, but there are so many more after that… the ceremony shots are killer – LOVE your compositions and perspectives – and as for the rest, almost felt like i was watching a movie. fantastic moments – love the smiles and emotions captured. and i LOVE your processing!
