Personal Project: World Solo 24hr Championships

Although my main photography focus has shifted to weddings, I still can’t head away from the subjects that formed the foundation of my photographic journey. So last weekend I decided to head down to Canberra with a few mates to complete a small personal project, covering the World Solo 24hr Mountain Bike Championships. What this you might ask, it’s pretty much where nutters ride their bikes for 24hours nonstop over a designated course. The winner of the event completed 24 laps of a 20km course which is 480km in 24hours. It’s just insane!

Maybe one day ill ride in a 24hour race……

Check out 37 more images after the jump which I feel best portray the event through my camera:

Matt what was your race number i may have something

Robert Rowe - 18 October, 2010 - 10:52 am

Matt, absolutely great photos, such a variety of angles and situations, just great. Is there any chance of getting a copy of the photo(s) you have of me? I’m the unfortunate one on the upside down Santa Cruz repairing a flat. My race number is 362 if you have any others. Actually how much would you charge for the set you’ve got displayed, as they truely catch the essence of the race?

Cheers, Rob.
